Restoring Workplace Culture Through Conflict Resolution by Nelson Ugonna Onwuliri

Conflict is inevitable in any high-stakes environment, but it does not have to be destructive. In my career, I have learned that the best resolution comes from a place of "Restorative Justice" focusing on repairing the harm and rebuilding the relationship rather than just assigning blame.

Effective mediation requires a neutral, data-backed approach. When disputes arise over benefits or management decisions, having clear policies (like those I discussed in Phase 2) is the first step. As Nelson Ugonna Onwuliri, I emphasize the importance of "Active Listening" and "Cultural Competency." Especially in diverse Canadian workplaces, understanding the different perspectives employees bring from their international backgrounds is key to finding a middle ground that respects everyone involved.
